Martha’s Vineyard historic 1840s decommissioned Methodist Church and Parsonage resurrected as a beautiful two building residential retreat

Completed in 2009, this iconic Vineyard Property was historically restored and sustainably updated. The church building, maintaining the open floor plan, is now a master suite with the original converted gas lamps, wide plank pine flooring and the restored tin ceilings. The uninhabitable parsonage building was rebuilt on the existing footprint with a new in-slab radiant foundation, hydronic radiant throughout the house with a new more functional interior floor plan. Exterior windows were repurposed as interior details, reclaimed matching flooring was used to supplement damaged original flooring and a floating staircase was added to help create the illusion of space. The street view remains consistent, with a new two bedroom, two bath interior that maximizes the small 1200 SF house.
